Not long ago we passed an important milestone and wanted to thank you for your help getting there. Fold3 members have now made over 2 million contributions to images and memorial pages on the site. Each contribution makes things easier to find, makes connections clearer and enriches the site.
Some members like vbetts, patootie63, aircraftclocks and others have made thousands of contributions.
We have a few great projects underway. The Lowcountry Africana group is indexing records from the South Carolina Estate Inventories and Bills of Sale, 1732-1872 and a group of NARA Volunteers is keying the captions from the Vietnam War photos.
We also have thousands of members who make the occasional contribution that relates to their research.
They may add valuable information that’s not available on the image:

I spent about four hours the other night doing exactly this, uploading links to records that I have found, three or four memorial pages and more
Fold3 is an amazing resource, especially for me as I live on the other side of the planet in Australia. I actually do have a Researcher’s card for the National Archives, not that I get there much, and to think that my brother started his working career there and now is at the Smitshonian American History Museum. A weird connection.

Re: Civil War Records. I am confused – are all of the Civil War pension papers and military records now available on Fold3? Have they been scanned at the National Archives and placed on this site? I can easily obtain them from the National Archives (for a price), but it would be easier to do it on line. I do not plan to join Fold3 until I know whether ALL Civil War records are available. If it is just the “card” showing the name and sometimes regiment, this is not for me.
