Over the weekend we made a few updates, restarted a server or two and banged on a few other bits and pieces around here. Those changes, combined with the passing of the initial tsunami of traffic, have left the site running much better.
From what we can tell, things should be pretty much back to normal. If you are still having problems, please let us know with a comment here or by sending and email to support@footnote.com.
We’re still working to improve the speed of the site and we will continue to upgrade our systems to try to avoid something like this happening again.
We’d like to apologize again for the issues we ran into last week and thank you for your patience as we worked through them.

I’ve email replies to those of you who are still seeing problems.
The general problems we were seeing when we first started the free month of 1930 have settled down, so if you are still having problems, we’ll need a little more information so that we can look into them. Please contact us at support@footnote.com and tell us as much as you can about what you are doing on the site and what error messages or problems you are seeing. Thanks.

This cannot be the complete 1930 census. I cannot find any relatives that I *know* are on the census as I have seen them before through other means. This promo is more than half over and a real let down.

This is what I noticed, even if you already signed up for the free month of August, to get the free access for the rest of August, you have to go through this URL http://go.footnote.com/1930census/ to log in. I just tried it and it works!

I’m not sure if that was directed at my comment but I am (and have been) going through the proper link and still they are not there. Another week gone by and just a week left. I am disappointed as I wanted to advance my research by getting copies of these records. I found one relative but I know the others are there. So frustrating! Normally this would be the offer that gets one to consider a paid membership but this isn’t that offer for me. Why pay if the info isn’t there? KWIM?
